New to Menu -

Whole Wheat Crust

The moistness of the crust will surprise you. Slightly thinner than our regular crust. Available in a 12 inch, 8 cut only.

Chili

We are now serving Chili everyday. Chili is actually not new to our menu. Chili was one of our Soups of the Day many years ago, and from time to time we made Chili for many of our longtime customers. But since many customers have been asking for Chili, it is now available everyday. Made with lean ground beef from premium cuts of meat and red beans, combined with tomato and chili sauces, and served with whole grain tortilla chips, our Chili is satisfying, healthy, and delicious.

-

Grilled Chicken Piccante Focaccia Sandwich

Piccante is the Italian Word for Spicy. And this is One Spicy Sandwich.

Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast Topped with Our Famous Chili, Hot Pepper Cheese, with a Chipotle Mayonnaise.

Cold Turkey Focaccia Sandwich

Thin Sliced, 100% All Natural Turkey, Provolone, Romaine Lettuce, Roma Tomatoes, and Low-Fat Pesto Mayonnaise.

Mother’s Day Rush 2011 -

I want to thank all of our customers who helped make Mother’s Day 2011 the busiest day in our forty year history. Although I had anticipated being busy, as Mother’s Day is traditionally a busy day for most restaurants, I was not only surprised with the amount of business that day, but also the kindness and generosity of an overwhelming amount of our customers. Although I had an extra four people on staff that day, many customers waited one and a half to two hours for their dinners. Although we warned our guests about the long waits when they were seated or when they placed their orders on the phone, all of dining room guests decided to stay, and most of our phone in orders for take away were placed anyway. I will never forget the loyalty and graciousness of our guests that day.

I am also thankful for the performance of all our staff who worked that day. In particular, Jay, Megan and Natalie who worked from open to close without taking a break. My mother, my uncle, and my sister and brother all worked well over twelve hours that day. Because my mother makes rare appearaces in our dining room, many of you are unaware that she continues to work seven days a week. My mother is a remarkably strong woman, and resists all efforts on my part  to slow down. Our restaurant is successful because of her dedication and special attention to our recipes, many of which were perfected in her kitchen decades ago. On this Mother's Day, I want everyone to know how important she is, not just in the quality of our recipes, but also as an example of strenth, determination, and attention to detail, at any age.

WQED -

Speaking of recipes, I was recently introduced to Chris Fennimore, Director of Programming and resident Head Chef at WQED. Chris was kind enough to invite me into the WQED studios for a tour of the kitchens where the station's local cooking shows are produced. More than a dozen of these local shows have been turned into national cooking specials which air all over the country on other public television stations. Talking recipes with Chris, an iconic chef celebrity who helped pave the way for the televison chefs of today, has been inspiring.
