About Pasqualino's

Guiseppe Augustino Pasqualino, Founder

1921 to 2007

My Uncle Francesco Pasqualino, Partner

Grinding Cheese by Hand in 1971

Pasqualino's Italian Restaurant was founded in 1971 by the Pasqualino family as Pizza Palace. We started in a tiny storeroom around the corner from our current location, where we moved to in 1986. Though still affectionately referred to as Pizza Palace or simply as "The Palace" by many of our longtime customers, the name change reflects the pride we have in the evolution of our menu to include many of our traditional Southern Italian family dishes perfected in our kitchens at home over many decades.

We doubt few restaurants have the commitment of hard work and dedication that Pasqualino's has in preparing our house-made recipes. Using the finest and freshest ingredients available to compliment our recipes, we begin our day before five am, seven days a week, to slow cook our pasta sauce, bake our own fresh bread, make soups from scratch, roll our meatballs by hand, and hand-stuff our own shells.

Three generations of Pasqualinos work alongside each other still believing what we believed in 1971, that quality is always the best value. Throughout our history, Pasqualino's has only used second or third generation family-owned supply houses that share our strong work ethic, providing a commitment for the trust and respect of the "partnership" between supplier and customers. Our cheeses, olive oil, pastas and other ingredients are quality brand name labels. We never use private labels from big-box supply houses where the packing source is often unidentifiable, and many times interchangeable. Our produce is hand-picked fresh each day by a third generation produce man working alone to hand pick the freshest and most vibrant produce. Our butcher is a second generation, family-owned business, USDA inspected, who pride themselves on the quality of their beef and poulrty sold only to the finest restaurants in the city.

The decor of Pasqualino's is light and airy, reminiscent of the Italian kitchen at home where meals for family and guests are not only prepared but also served. Pasqualino's maintains a mutually respectful working relationship with the Allegheny County Health Department to operate one of the cleanest restaurants in all of Pennsylvania.

From our humble beginnings almost forty years ago, members of our family have opened their own restaurants.  While we are proud of their accomplishments, and invite you dine with them also, Pasqualino’s on Frankstown Road is the only restaurant where my mother Maria’s recipes were first served and are still being prepared under her stern, watchful eye, and served with the gentlemanly kindness of my uncle Francesco.
